Anjum draws inspiration from life experiences, emotions, and the colors, textures, and forms found in nature. She uses a palette knife and other unconventional tools to paint in oils and acrylics, employing a thick impasto technique to create bold strokes that add character and strength to her abstracts. In May 2024, Anjum won an award at the 17th International Painting & Calligraphy Art Exhibition held at the Metropolitan Museum of Japan in Tokyo. Anjum says, “Painting makes me a happier and calmer person because creating art provides a respite from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. Art and design are at the core of my passion, where I explore the use of color, shape, texture, and light to create compositions that capture not just form, but the deeper emotions and personality of my subjects. My work reflects the world around me, constantly inspired by everything I see, feel, and experience. I’m driven by the challenge of transforming these elements into abstract expressions that invite viewers to discover their own emotional connection to each piece, pushing the boundaries of perception and meaning.” |
