Arathi Dharani is a self-taught artist with a natural talent, versatility, and a prolific creative output spanning over two decades. Despite her postgraduate degree in Engineering and years spent working in the electronics industry in India, it was her move to Indonesia that ignited her passion for art. Immersed in the rich artistic and cultural environment of the country, Arathi began exploring drawing and painting. Southeast Asian art and culture, nature, Japanese culture, and the prose and poetry of Rabindranath Tagore serve as deep wells of inspiration for Arathi's artistic endeavors. Working across various mediums and styles, she finds particular joy in creating drawings and paintings using black ink. The spontaneity of her process is key to achieving her best results. With a keen eye for composition, Arathi effortlessly captures the essence of diverse cultures as she observes and experiences them. Arathi's figurative paintings have a remarkable ability to evoke a wide range of emotions, stirring a sense of harmony, beauty, and nostalgia within viewers. Each piece she creates is a testament to her unwavering passion and her dedication to exploring new styles and techniques. Every day, she passionately endeavors to produce something new, pushing the boundaries of her artistic expression. Residing in Singapore for many years, Arathi finds solace and inspiration in the serene surroundings of the National Library and Japanese Garden.
