ABOUT ARTIST
My real name is Maung Maung Htay and pen name Aung Min Min. I was born in 22 November 1953, Yangon, Myanmar. My in born tendency has been the art of cartoon illustration since my childhood.         I started drawing cartoons on pieces of paper as I thought it fit.  Then beginning from 1968, I started my career as a professional cartoonist. I drew comic, illustration and satire cartoons. I also drew cartoons for over 100 separate cartoon books. While studying the art of cartoon, I came to have natural bent for drawing caricature. Thus I studied it and continued drawing it. After drawing caricature for some time, I was engrossed in people's character and become to understand their mind and matter just a little bit. This made me set my heart on studying the art of painting. Regarding it, I started drawing Myanmar Traditional painting. As Myanmar Traditional painting is based on line drawing I have been pleased with it for some years. While enjoying line drawing, I became interested again in scenery and people. At this I was engrossed in realism and started drawing. Then again, I became monotonous in depicting realism. That being so, I felt like finishing a painting at one sitting with paints and a brush whatever I felt in my mind. Consequently it made me interested in impression. I was very happy with such a kind of drawing as this particular technique was applied with the combination of paint, brush and mental feeling simultaneously. But the problem was that what I saw did not remain intact in mind and it tended to be on and off every now and then. Then I wanted to draw the appearance which came into mind in a flash. Sometimes I had to imagine for a long time just to draw it, but other times it accidentally appeared and I drew it with a sudden stroke of brush. To tell the truth, such a kind of technique was not systematically learnt at the Arts School. It was not learnt from anybody else. I just drew freely what I felt in my mind. I was very happy to do that. I did not place emphasis on whether my painting was selling or not. From 1988 to 1993, I went to Thailand and drew Thai traditional paintings and Chinese paintings. From 1993 till 1996, I gave priority to drawing sort of paintings regarding culture, tradition and religion. Beginning from 1997, I not only painted pictures, but also drew cartoons. Then in 1999, setting up AMM Animation Studio, I started drawing cartoon animation. Thus cartoon animations were drawn for six movies and 15 TV advertisements. But creating cartoon animations came to a stop in 2008. So, Drawing of caricatures and Gag cartoons was started in 2009. During that period of time, I was drawing caricatures in cooperation with Bridaldoodles Agent from Australia and also cartoons for a company. As for the art of drawing, I blended contemporary features with traditional ones. A solo art show and a total of 30 arts shows have already been exhibited. At present, I am devoting my self to painting pictures as well as drawing cartoons. A value the painting more than anything else, which has been created in a flash while the unstable mind is put under restraint just for a little while. I do not like the paintings done from the photos taken. Instead, I prefer the paintings created with my own consciousness just as I see things and feel in my mind. Especially, I usually create such a kind of painting to make it significant.
