ARTWORK
Merlion Tessellation
Size 60 cm x 84 cm Medium: Pen & Ink and Copic Brush Pens on Fine Art paper This is a painting depicting the Merlion in a tessellated pattern against a pen and ink free mind design background. It represents a pattern of shapes that fit together perfectly on a single plane without any gaps as do all people in Singapore regardless of their origin . A tessellation repeats itself indefinitely and the artist wanted to use this to show Singapore's continued openness and diversity. The pen and ink free mind design background represents all of us in Singapore together in a single harmonious tapestry. This artwork was shortlisted for the UOB painting of the Year 2024 |
