Artwork Description:
Orange Martini is a playful and colourful art work, all about the balance between abstraction and realism—there’s something magical about the way these elements converse with one another. It’s like a story is unfolding in layers—abstract and literal at once. The transparent pear, with its delicate quality against the textured background, gives a beautiful sense of contrast. I have stopped the painting at that "rusty feel"—that adds a certain warmth and imperfection.

ABOUT ARTIST
Bhavana R Kapur
https://www.instagram.com/bhavanakapurart/ Bhavana Kapur, based in Singapore is professionally trained as an Architect and an Interior designer who has worked in the industry for more than a decade. Today she is practicing as an artist who enjoys oil paints along with other mediums like watercolours and acrylics. Having a strong background as an Architect has helped her interweave the 2 forms of arts using the same visual elements, organising principles and the similar engagement of sense. Bhavana likes to paint subjects that stir her senses, invite her to the canvas and let her dream about it. Art is an expression of oneself, which tells a story, some personal with a deeper meaning, and some more surface level. Challenging, enjoying and immersing in the process and having fun are the most important. “Through art she is on a journey of exploring different emotions, expressions and subjects. We live in a beautiful world, what can be better than capturing it on a canvas”. |
