Chan Choy Har
Instagram: chanachoyhar7 Chan Choy Har is a BA graduate in Fine Arts from RMIT University, Australia and MA in Art Education from National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Her numerous awards included the Commonwealth Foundation Fellowships in Arts and Crafts (1992 - 1993), second prize at the Philippe Charriol Foundation Contemporary Art Competition (1994), Best Young Artist by Singapore Telecommunications (1995) and Dr Tan Tze Chor Excellence Award (1997 and 2007). An artist-in-residence in Gray's School of Art, Robert Gordon University, she held her 1st solo exhibition in Aberdeen Arts Center in Scotland, United Kingdom (1993) and studied under the late Scottish Artist, Alexander Fraser. Her local and overseas exhibitions (1986 – present), are namely the Asian International Art Exhibition (AIAE), held in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Macau, China, Japan, South Korea and Fukuoka, Japan (2021). She served various positions in Modern Art Society, Singapore since 1989 and had contributed to the art education and art scene internationally and locally since 1986. She held her solo exhibition was at the Visual Art Center in Singapore (2018), featuring her works from 1986 to 2018. As an artist in residency in Telok Kurau Studios since 2021, Choy Har initiated the concept of ART/ARK that reached out to the community through the arts. She spearheaded the first art exhibition, “See and Seek” with aspiring artists from all walks of lives in the community in December 2022. Choy Har also curated ARCHipelago. Art, “Inbreathe 2024, an international art exhibition featuring multidisciplinary artists from 9 countries. As Chairperson of Telok Kurau Studios Management Committee (2022-2024), she organized “Encore of Colours” (2023) and “Interwoven” (2024) Art Exhibition for Telok Kurau Studios, in conjunction with Singapore Art Week in 2023 and 2024. Her works have been collected by Singtel, Four Seasons Hotel (Singapore), other corporations and private collectors from Singapore, Malaysia, China and Korea. |
