Artist Mai Long is one of the exemplary artists of contemporary Vietnamese art. As one of the 21 students in the Resistance Fine Arts class trained directly by the famous painter To Ngoc Van, Mai Long continued to study at the Hanoi University of Fine Arts. Since 1963, while still in university, he was invited by director Truong Qua to draw for the animated film "Full Moon Night". He is the main artist who created Vietnam's first color animated film, "Ballad on the Mountain Wall". He is one of the most Well-known artist who was successful in Silk Painting in Vietnam.
For artist Mai Long, painting is an endless passion. Artistic images always haunt his mind everywhere, even in his dreams. At almost ninety years old, every day artist Mai Long is still tirelessly drawing at his drawing board. On days when he is too busy with work and cannot paint, he feels restless and uneasy. He is constantly thinking about artistic images and feels the need to express them through his paintings. Despite his old age, he still devotes himself to his art and spends his days painting.
