• Style/genre - Maurice uses a personal, expressive style characterized by bold strokes and sombre colours, resulting in an imagery that often invokes a feeling of melancholy or macabre that is also deeply mesmerizing. His art centers on the portrayal of desolation and despondency in life, and its mutability. He wishes to use his art to provide reconciliation and consolation. Maurice has developed a unique style that reflected a deep appreciation of Western and Chinese Expressionism. He draws inspiration from Vlaminck, Mvnch, Zhou Chunya and Badashanren.
• Maurice is also a Biomedical Scientist and has a PhD in Molecular Biology. He is grateful that he has discovered talents in both Science and Art, which allowed him to contribute to the society in different ways. As student, he designed covers for junior college and university publications. He regularly participates in River Hongbao event, giving away 挥春and 年画 to the public.​
