https://www.instagram.com/meghanema.art/ Artist Statement Each canvas I paint is a fragment of my life, narrating stories of ‘Sukoon’ (Arabic for a state of tranquility) – a tranquil sanctuary where the essence of motherhood and childhood intertwine. My paintings are autobiographical, capturing moments of joy and serenity in the lively chaos that surrounds my world. Through bold textures, I aim to capture the sense of motion and fluidity in my artworks. My practice involves acrylic and oil, along with mark making using pigment sticks, charcoal, and pastels. The first layer I put on canvas is using the colour which allows me to connect with my emotion at that moment, building up layers using flat brushstrokes, to reveal an inseparable relationship between motion and sound of the surroundings. My works stand as testaments to the profound belief that to truly see, one must feel, and to truly express, one must connect authentically. I invite the viewer to pause, reflect, and perhaps find their own moments of 'Sukoon' amidst the chaos of life. |
