BIOGRAPHY 

Armed with a Bachelor's of Art and Social Scienes from the National University of
Singapore, Melissa Teo is now a full time visual artist. Having taught art full-time for ten years at Raffles Girls' Secondary, she decided to make a switch after winning the top prize for a South East District painting competition in 2003.

Fast forward, she became a member of the Singapore Art Society in 2010 and has since participated in the society's annual group exhibitons. She has had two solo shows and a few group shows from 2016 to 2021 at the Utterly Art Gallery who currently represents her. Her works have been showcased at the Affordable Art Fair Singapore, Tatinis Art Show, the Global Art Fair, the Bank Art Fair and the Art Apart Fair with Utterly Art and Trigger
Hearth gallery.

She has also partcipated in various group exhibitions namely with NAFA Alumni
Association and the Ngnee Ann Cultural Centre, and the Faber Castell Art Festival where she conducted two workshops in 2018.

Currently, her works revolve around the historical local architecture and endangered animals of the Asian regions. She paints mainly with acrylic on canvas although she does mixed media and digital art. Her distinctive style is expressive and bold, exhibiting heavy use of line work, vibrant colours and textures.
Melissa also freelances as an illustrator and graphic designer. To date, she has illustrated 7 children's books and covers and articles for various magazines. She has even copublished two children's book in 2020.
